What is PL Technology?
PL Technology works by superimposing a signal over the standard 50 or 60 Hz alternating current (AC) power grid on your site in a similar way to how ADSL or Broadband works over the telephone line.

Traditionally, electrical utility companies have used their power line carrier circuits to control substations, for voice communication and the protection of high-voltage transmission lines. High-speed data transmission capability has subsequently been developed from this using the lower voltage (220-240V) transmission circuits used for power distribution. A short-range form of power line carrier can also be used for home automation and intercom applications too.

Why use PL Technology?
Power Line technology can overcome some of the possible limitations of either a cable or Wireless solution in certain environments to deliver an affordable and reliable alternative for distributing digital signals. It’s worth pointing out here that PL Technology is a complimentary technology to Wireless and not necessarily a replacement for it.
