Case Study: Sands of Luce Holiday Park

Sands of Luce Holiday Park is situated on the idyllic Luce Bay, near Stranraer, surrounded by Galloway's beautiful countryside and some of the most stunning and widest beaches in the southwest of Scotland.

The site is a mix of 220 static pitches and 80 touring pitches and offers good facilities such as parking, a comfortable lounge bar, children's play areas, boat launching direct from the beach and landscaped gardens with integral paths and roads linking the various sections of the site together, providing a 'village like' feel to the whole park.

Local amenities to the site are endless; golf, pony trekking, clay pigeon shooting, hill walking, guided forest walks, rugged cliffs, ancient ruined castles, wide beaches, award winning Botanic Garden’s, sea angling and good food & drink, everything Scotland is most famous for. To the south of the park is the Mull of Galloway, Scotland's most southerly point with 300 foot high cliffs offering views of Ireland, the Isle of Man, England and Scotland. The BBC TV series "2000 Acres of Sky" was filmed in and around the Rhins of Galloway making this site and its location a real gem for customers.

Towards the end of the 2008 season, Park & Marine Wireless Networks installed a WiFi network across the park and Richard Copeland, owner of Sands of Luce Holiday Park had this to say about the installation;

What was your main reason for having WiFi installed across the park? “There seemed to be a need for it, lots of our customers had been asking about it. Park & Marine contacted us enquiring as to whether it was a service we wanted and it seemed like the right time to have it installed. We wanted a good service and the whole site covered but we didn’t know that much about it. Park & Marine quoted for the work we wanted, along with one other company and it was in the ball park of what I expected. They also explained how it would work and how they would install it for us”

Where there any concerns or issues you raised with Park and Marine prior to installation? “Only safety. Safety with WiFi as opposed to more traditional technologies. There are many stories and myths surrounding the technology and that was all explained to me which helped to dispel the concerns I had.”

Did you find the installation process went smoothly across the park? “Absolutely! 100%! We couldn’t be happier. And when we had storm shortly after the installation, and I had to call them out to fix the system, they were here straight away, it was brilliant, great service”

Richard went on to say, “We’ve had a good uptake so far, it’s keeping the kids amused and keeping people in touch with their friends.”

How are people reacting to the service? “We’ve had a bit of everything, some people are asking for it and some are surprised we have it, some have even gone as far getting a computer now that we have the facility, its great.”

Anything you would like to say as far as service you received from Park and Marine? “Yes, the after sales service has been excellent, couldn’t be happier, its so nice people take an interest afterward, you don’t always find that. And I am more than pleased with the service, especially when you didn’t know what to expect to get when you start these things.”
